Police Warn Residents of Bamboozle Traffic Concerns

Traffic on Route 36 to increase Friday night and Saturday afternoon

 

The Bamboozle Festival in Asbury Park is bringing more than just Bon Jovi and the Foo Fighters to the area this weekend.

The West Long Branch Police are warning residents of the increased traffic the three-day concert will bring to Route 36 and the area around Monmouth Park from Friday through Sunday.

for the three-day music festival, using lots along Oceanport Avenue. Concertgoers will pay the $10 daily fee for the shuttle bus to Asbury Park, or $25 for all three days.

A Nixle message from the West Long Branch Police says residents should try to avoid the area if they are not planning on attending the concert.

"Officers will be positioned at points along the route as well as in and around Monmouth Park will work to manage this anticipated influx," the message states. "Residents are asked to consider this in their weekend plans and use alternate routes if necessary."

The concert hours are Friday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Police added that there will be a "three-hour buffer before and after to allow for spectator arrivals and departures."

Oceanport Police Chief Howard Sutton told the that there will be about four or five officers directing traffic in the Monmouth Park vicinity and more officers in the parking lot. At the end of the evening, there will be four or five officers monitoring the parking lot when the buses return from Asbury Park.

The chief said that Bamboozle organizers are paying for all officers to be used to monitor concert parking and traffic.
