Police: Man Drove Golf Cart Into Car at Monmouth Park

The man also allegedly attacked officers and damaged an Oceanport police car.

A Florida man is accused of ramming a golf cart into a car and then assaulting officers.

Oceanport police say Angel M. Estrada-Ortiz, of Ocala, injured Sgt. Michael Fagliarone and Monmouth Park Security Officer Richard Wright while they were attempting to place him under arrest at Monmouth Park on June 29. Estrada-Ortiz was charged with two counts of aggravated assault for injuring the officers.

According to court documents, Estrada-Ortiz also threatened to kill Fagliarone, Wright and West Long Branch Police Officer Scott Rockhill while they were attempting to arrest him.

Estrada Ortiz was also charged with being drunk and disorderly in public for allegedly driving a golf cart into a vehicle.

He is also facing a criminal mischief charge for damaging an Oceanport Police car by denting it and getting his blood on it, court documents state.

Estrada-Ortiz is being held in Monmouth County Jail on $20,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in Monmouth County Court on April 10.
