Oceanport Police Blotter: Underage Drinking and Marijuana Possession

The following arrest information was supplied by the Oceanport Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Records released by the Oceanport Police Department on May 8.

April 30: A UPS package was reported stolen from a Fairfield Avenue home. According to police reports, the package was left on the front porch as no one was home at the time of delivery, and was taken some time before the home owner returned home. The matter is under investigation.

May 4: Illegal dumping was reported at the Community Center Park. Demetrio Zarate, department of public works superintendent, reported that a resident had illegally dumped magazines in the Community Center garbage cans. Police reponded to the resident's home and spoke to her about proper procedures on recycling. No charges were signed.

May 4: Patrols took a report of criminal mischief to the hockey shed at Blackberry Bay Park. Mr. Joseph P. Lavalle reported when he arrived at the hockey rink at 6:30 p.m. to coach his hockey team, he found the equipment shed door broken and that unknown subject(s) removed the hockey nets and placed them on the rink. No other equipment was removed or damaged. This matter is under investigation.

May 4: While conducting a business check of the Seawaneka Boat Ramp, patrol located two subjects standing outside a vehicle. Further investigation revealed that juvenile suspect was in possession of a small, red and clear plastic baggy containing greenish/brown vegetation believed to be under 50 grams of marijuana and a cigarette style smoking device that was packed with the greenish/brown vegetation. Juvenile was arrested and transported to the police station where he was processed and released to his mother.

May 6: Patrols responded at 2:04 a.m. to a report of juveniles drinking at a Bridgewaters Drive home. Patrols found several juveniles inside the home consuming alcohol. All the juveniles were subsequently brought into headquarters and released to their parents. Charges are pending.
