Oceanport Police Blotter: Criminal Mischief and Illegal Dumping of Paint Cans

The following arrest information was supplied by the Oceanport Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Arrest records released by the Oceanport Police Department on April 3.

March 27: Police responded to report of a vehicle damaged in the driveway of a Comanche Drive residence. According to the report, the vehicle was scratched, possibly with a key, and the incident is under investigation by the detective bureau. Ptl. Mickey Perrulli responded to the call.

March 28: Police responded to a complaint by Oceanport Department of Public Works Supervisor Demetrio Zarate of illegal dumping at the recycling center. According to the police report, a beige Suburban with black roof racks had dumped paint cans in the recycling area. The matter is under investigation. Capt. Daniel Barcus responded to the complaint.

March 29: Following a stop for a motor vehicle violation on Eatontown Boulevard,Garrett D. Schafer, 25, of Eatontown, was arrested for an outstanding warrant out of Long Branch Municipal Court. The subject was arrested, transported to police headquarters, processed and released after posting cash bail. Ptl. Chris Mageros was the arresting officer.

March 31: Patrols responded to a report of smoke coming from an area near the creek on Hunters Run around 4:52 p.m. Oceanport Hook & Ladder and police determined it to be a smoke-type firework that was discovered. No one was observed in the area, according to the police report.

April 1: Following a stop for a motor vehicle violation at 1:37 a.m. on Oceanport Avenue and Crescent Place, Sean P. O'Grady, 34, of Belford, was charged with driving while intoxicated and transported to police headquarters where the subject was processed and released. Ptl. Mickey Perrulli made the arrest.

April 2: Det. Jonathan R. Tucci came upon a vehicle stopped in traffic on Port-Au-Peck Avenue at 8 a.m. and believed it to be a disabled motorist. Upon further investigation, Patrick J. Marques, 37, of Toms River, was charged with driving while intoxicated. The subjects was also charged with hindering apprehension for providing officers with a false name. Further investigation revealed several outstanding warrants, according to the report. The subject was processed and transported to Monmouth County Correctional Institution on default of bail. Sgt. Michael Chenoweth was assisted by Det. Jonathan R. Tucci in the arrest.

Speeding Enforcement Initiative:

The Oceanport Police Department, in an attempt to greatly reduce the overall speeds at which motorists travel at through the borough, have begun a speeding enforcement initiative throughout the borough, targeting numerous
streets. The initiative will be an ongoing effort to ensure the safety of the motoring and pedestrian traffic within the borough.
