Oceanport Police Blotter: Knife Possession and Missing Floats

The following arrest information was supplied by the Oceanport Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Records released by the Oceanport Police Department on May 2.

April 25: A Morris Place resident reported that two 5-foot by 8-foot jet floats were taken from his boat ramp. The owner reported that the floats appeared to be untied and was unsure when they were taken. The State Police Marine Bureau and the Long Branch Police Department were notified of the missing docks and the matter is under investigation.

April 26: Anthony J. Vamvas, 20, of Eatontown, was arrested for unlawful possession of a weapon at 1 a.m. by Ptl. Jake Pascucci at the intersection of Oceanport Avenue and Summerfield Avenue. The suspect was carrying a 4-inch butterfly knife. He was processed and transported to Monmouth County Correctional Institute in lieu of bail.

April 26: Brian G. Brown, 26, of Oceanport, was stopped at 9 p.m. after he was seen in the Od Wharf Park after hours. Further investigation revealed an active warrant out of Brick Township. The accused was arrested, transported to police headquarters and processed. He was unable to post bail, and was subsequently turned over to Brick Township Police Department.

April 29: Following a complaint in the area of Oceanport Village Plaza of a male bothering other patrons and asking for money, police arrested Vincent J. Scavuzzo, 44, Oceanport. Further investigation revealed the subject had an active warrant out of the Monmouth County Sheriff's Department, who picked him up in default of bail. The accused was also issued a borough ordinance summons for begging for money from patrons and persons in vehicles.
