Police: Man Struck by Train in Red Bank Stole Laptop From Little Silver Coffee Shop First

The 19-year-old Woodbridge man who was injured early Sunday morning at the Red Bank Train Station has been charged with stealing a laptop one stop earlier in Little Silver, according to police.

Oluwatomiwa Adewusi, 19, Avenel, was charged with burglary and theft after he was observed on surveillance video stealing the laptop along with a drink and chips from Rook Coffee Roasters inside the Little Silver Train Station, police said. The footage showed that the suspect entered followed a delivery person into the building and then boarded the northbound NJ Transit train to Red Bank following the theft.

Little Silver Police circulated a still photo of the suspect taken from surveillance footage to local police departments. Red Bank Police identified him as the same man who suffered a broken leg Sunday morning when he was struck by a train.

The stolen laptop was recovered near the train platform in Red Bank and returned to its owner with minor damages, according to police.

Adewusi was served with the complaints on Monday while recuperating at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune.
