Little Silver Police Warn of Phone Scams

Police Chief Dan Shaffery said that the Little Silver PBA does not solicit by phone.

are warning residents of a phone scam that attempts to solicit donations on behalf on the department and a report that the caller offered to pick up the donation in person.

"We have zero tolerance (for phone scams)," said Chief Dan Shaffery, of the report they received Monday night by a resident of the scam, which he called a "common one."

The PBA does not solicit by phone, said Shaffery, but conducts its fund drive through mailings to residents.

"They pressure people into donating," he said of the scammers.
