Staff observed a 'suspicious individual' near Wolf Hill and called police.

The Oceanport School District initiated a lock-down at Wolf Hill School on Wednesday when staff observed a "suspicious individual" near school grounds, according to Superintendent Andrew Orefice.

School staff immediately notified the Oceanport Police of the individual seen on a nearby resident's property around 2 p.m.

Police recommended a "perimeter lock-down" in which no one was permitted outside the school building, Orefice said in a message sent to the school community on Wednesday afternoon.
