Little Silver Fire Department Extinguishes Basement Fire on Conover Place

One firefighter suffered minor injuries.

The Little Silver Fire Department and other local companies extinguished a basement fire on Conover Place on Aug. 12.

Little Silver Fire Department Chief Andrew Smith said the department received a call for a smoke condition at 10 Conover Place and was dispatched there along with the Shrewsbury Fire Department.

Smith said police on the scene reported heavy smoke coming from the rear of the building.

Little Silver and Shrewsbury firefighters found that the fire started in the basement and were able to contain it there.

The building was empty at the time of the fire, so no residential injuries were reported.

However, one firefighter received minor injuries and was treated and released at the scene of the fire, Smith said.

The fire is being investigation by the Red Bank Fire Marshall’s office and Little Silver Police.

Units from Little Silver Fire and EMS, the Shrewsbury Fire Department, Sea Bright Fire Department, and Rumson Fire Department responded to the fire, Smith said.
