Light Snow Expected for Monday and Tuesday

The forecast calls for between 1 and 2 inches of snow and a difficult morning commute.

A minor winter weather system will impact the Jersey Shore area early Tuesday, which could cause some slippery driving conditions during the Tuesday morning rush.

At this time, current weather forecast indicate that snow should start falling during the overnight hours and by sunrise, there could be an inch or two of accumulation, according to local officials and the National Weather Service.

With temperatures still below freezing early Tuesday morning, some roads could be snow covered and slippery. Temperatures should rise above freezing on Tuesday changing snow over to rain which should wash away any snow accumulation.

Regardless of approaching winter weather conditions, towns say they're ready for the approaching winter weather. Snow fighting equipment for both communities are ready to be dispatched in response to winter weather conditions.

Motorists are urged to exercise caution when traveling Tuesday morning and to allow for extra time to reach their destination. Road conditions should improve during the day on Tuesday as temperatures rise above freezing.
