Fire Scorches Trailer and Garage of Queens Drive Home

Deemed accidental, blaze began in trailer used by a flooring company working inside the house. Quick response by Little Silver Fire Department saved home from further damage.

The trailer of a flooring company working inside a home at 2 Queens Drive in Little Silver burst into flames shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday, spreading to the home's garage before it was quickly extinguished by volunteers from the .

The family was not home and workers who were installing hardwood floors earlier in the day were outside during the fire. There were no reported injuries.

"It came in as a shed fire and then it changed to a trailer fire, and when we got here the trailer was fully engulfed and the flames just caught the garage," said Police Chief Dan Shaffery, who was redirecting traffic on Church Lane.

Church Lane and Rumson Road were both shut down while crews knocked down the fire, and traffic was backed up on Harding Road near for a little less than an hour.

Fire Chief Jim Jiminaro said his volunteers had the fire put down in a matter of five minutes.

"They made a nice stop because there was no extension to the house, it was just the side of the garage, nothing inside," said Jimanaro. "The response was quick and we made a nice save on the house."

Red Bank and Little Silver Fire Marshall Tom Welsh said the cause of the fire is unknown at this time and is under investigation.

"We're looking at something more mechanical, but we won't know until its been pulled apart. We know its accidental," said Welsh.
