Arrests, Ejections Made at Monmouth Park

Oceanport police responded to the race track numerous times within the past month on different offenses

Oceanport police responded to numerous times in the past month on offenses ranging from drunk and disorderly conduct to assault.

  • The Detective Bureau is currently investigating a report of an assault taken at 1 a.m. Aug. 13.

Patrols responded to the park after an unidentified victim said he was hit in the face in the back of the track. Police checked the area but did not locate a suspect.

  • Authorities arrested two nearby residents on Aug. 4 after encountering them driving on the racetrack itself, police said.

David S. Santos, 24, of Long Branch was charged with drunken driving after police responded to the track at 2:50 a.m. that day.

After Santos was being arrested on the DWI charge, his passenger, Alyssa K. Alvarez, 22, of Middletown started yelling at police and would not follow instructions, police said, leading to a disorderly conduct charge.

Both were charged and released, pending court dates.

  • A track employee recovered a car she had reported stolen on July 29.

Police said the woman reported to work at 8:30 a.m. and locked her car. The vehicle was gone when she returned at 8:30 p.m., police said.

Authorities later located the vehicle in the maintenance area of the track.

  • A Plainfield man was ejected and banned from the park on July 26.

Police responded at 10:23 a.m. that day after being advised that the man was being disorderly and needed to be removed from the property. Police escorted the Plainfield man from the park and told him he is not permitted back.

  • A Matawan man was ejected and banned from the park on July 19.

Police were dispatched to the park security office at 1:38 p.m. that day on a report of a disorderly intoxicated patron. When patrols arrived, the patron became cooperative, police said.

However, he was served with an ejection notice and advised him not to return to the park.

  • An Oceanport man was charged with drunken driving at 1:35 a.m. July 17.

Police initially stopped Elmer Leonel Gudiel-Godoy, 35, on motor vehicle violations. Further investigation revealed that he was intoxicated, police said.

Gudiel-Godoy was released pending a court date.
