Obituary: Michael J. Sayko

The Howell resident formerly lived in Little Silver.

Michael J. Sayko, 49, of Howell Township died at home on April 3 after battling cancer.  Sayko was born in Summit, NJ and raised in Charlotte, NC, and had lived in Little Silver before settling to Howell in 1988.

He was a 1985 graduate of St. Andrew’s College, Laurinburg, NC and the  owner of Triad Research in Howell. Prior to that, he had worked for Computer Sciences Corp. in Eatontown.  Sayko was an active parishioner of St. Veronica’s Catholic Church. He volunteered as a County Committee Member, Voting District 17 and coached girls soccer for the Pinelanders for many years.   

Sayko is survived by his wife of 23 years, Marcia Sayko; three daughters, Amanda, Elizabeth, and Emily Sayko; his parents, Andrew F. and Patricia Sayko, Jr. of Seabrook Island, SC; two brothers, Andrew Sayko and his Fiancée, Laurie of Danville, CA and Jay Sayko and his wife, Erica of New York City; a sister, Kathy Sayko and her husband, Andrew Klopp of New York City; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and dear friends; and his faithful canine companions, Misty and Buster.

Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, April 9 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.  Relatives and friends may gather at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10 at the funeral home followed by his 9 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Veronica’s Catholic Church, 4215 Route 9 North, Howell Twp.  Interment will follow in St. Gabriel’s Catholic Cemetery in Marlboro.  Memorial contributions in memory of Sayko may be made to St. Veronica School, 4219 Route 9 North, Howell, NJ 07731.  For information, directions or condolence messages to the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com.
