John Michael Walsh, who lived in Little Silver for 45 years, died at Riverview Medical Center on Aug. 1, according to Legacy.com.
Walsh served on the Board of Education for nine years, including two terms as board president. Walsh was also an active parishioner of the Church of the Nativity, Fair Haven. For many years, the Walshes were members of Surfrider Beach Club in Sea Bright.
Surviving are his wife, Margot and their four children, Jacquelyn Walsh of Rumson, John Walsh, his wife Joan Alker and their children, Emma and Vera Walsh-Alker of Washington, DC, Rob Walsh, his wife Cristy and their children, Jack and Charlie of Winchester, Massachusetts; Andrew Walsh and his wife Lisa and their children Ellie and Brady of Little Silver, New Jersey.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5 at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St., Red Bank. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6 at the Church of the Nativity, 180 Ridge Rd., Fair Haven. Following the mass, interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Chapel Hill Road, Middletown. The family requests that memorial donations to honor Jack be made to the Parker Family Health Center in Red Bank (www.parkerfamilyhealthcenter.org).
