Obituary: Ann Mihlon, 76

Mihlon served as a dispatcher for the Little Silver Police Department for 30 years.

Ann Falvo Mihlon, 76, a 47 year resident of Little Silver, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Riverview Medical Center after a brief illness.

Born and raised in Red Bank, Ann is predeceased by her parents, Peter W. Falvo (1962 Mayor of Red Bank) and Viola Fichter Falvo of Sea Bright. Ann was a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University and worked for several years as a Dental Hygienist.

Ann was an active member of as well as the local Board of Health and St. John’s Episcopal Church in Little Silver.

She began her career as a Dispatcher for the in 1980 and served with distinction until her retirement in 2010.

Ann spent the majority of her childhood in Sea Bright, NJ with her family at the Sea Bright Bathing Pavilion. It was there that she developed a lifelong appreciation for the shore and made that her well known decorating and gift theme.

She loved animals and shared her life with dogs great and small, including becoming a dog trainer and an AKC award winning handler.

Ann’s artistic talents took the form of seascapes and portraits in oils and pastels. Her work was often requested for private paintings and retirement tributes.

She is predeceased by her former husband, Lawrence F. Mihlon of Ocean Grove, NJ. Surviving are her two sons, and his wife, Lauren Dwyer-Mihlon, and West Long Branch Police Captain Lawrence L. Mihlon and his wife, Susan Marco, of Long Branch; and her daughter, School for Children Principal Dana Ann Giblin-Guest and her husband, David Guest, of Little Silver.

Ann had seven grandchildren to whom she was cherished as “Mum-Mum”; Little Silver Police Patrolman Peter Shannon Giblin and his fiancée, Elizabeth Ann Uliano; Kaitlyn Ann Mihlon and her fiancée, Ryan Patrick Kennedy; Julie Anne Milillo and her husband, Michael; Dane Scott Mihlon Jr., Christopher Blaise Mihlon, Mitchell John Mihlon, Taylor Michelle Giblin, and her beloved dogs, Alana and Ricky.

A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, January 31 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank, NJ with an EMS service at 7:30 p.m. A memorial service will be offered on Wednesday, February 1st 10 a.m. at the funeral home followed by interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
