Longtime Long Branch Resident Dies at 84

The following is an obituary from Woolley-Boglioli Funeral Home:

Bernice (Brodsky) Newberg passed away October 25, at Jersey Shore Nursing Home, Eatontown, NJ. She was one day shy of 85. She left us with family at her side and the prayers and well wishes of her many friends, who kept her deeply in their hearts.

Born in New York City, she spent most of her life in the Long Branch area, where she met and married her husband Morris and raised her family.

Bernice had a rare and unique way about her that made others want to be with her. She was genuinely loving and nurturing. She loved being with people and especially enjoyed entertaining her family and friends at her home. Her love of cooking, art and gardening made her home a wonderful place to visit.

Bernice was an accomplished water color artist, and excelled at colorful works of flowers and outdoor settings. She loved animals, especially cats. But most of all she adored her family and friends, unconditionally.

She is predeceased by her husband Morris and survived by her children Jay Newberg and Amy Scerbo, and their respective spouses Cindy and William, her grandsons, Harry and Kevin and sister Ruth.

A graveside ceremony will take place at 10:30 on Sunday, October 27 at the Congregation Brothers of Israel Cemetery, Long Branch corners of Broadway and North Linden Ave.
