Little Silver Firefighter, Former County Employee Dies at 93

Visitation for Joseph Boccellato will be Sunday, July 14 from 6 to 9 p.m. at John E. Day Funeral Home in Red Bank.

Joseph G. Boccellato, 93, passed away on Wednesday at his daughter’s home in Hillsborough.

He lived most of his life in Little Silver before moving to Michigan when he retired, and then to Old Bridge nine years ago. He was retired from the Monmouth County Highway Department after working 30 years. Joseph proudly served our country in the US Army during World War II and he was a member of the Little Silver Fire Department for 50 years. He was a loving and Devoted Husband, Father & Grandfather. 

He is predeceased by his daughter, Diane Pomphrey, two brothers, Frank and Charles Boccellato, and his sisters Francis Boccellato and Ana Nicolette. Surviving is his wife of 42 years, Joyce Wright Boccellato, his daughter Lisa Visco and her husband Nicholas of Hillsborough, his brother William Boccellato and his wife Barbara of Red Bank, his three grandchildren, Lauren and Nicole Visco, and Joseph Hulbert and his wife Lena and their children Alex, Terry, and Jakob. 

A visitation will be held at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank on Sunday, July 14 from 6 to 9 p.m. A service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, July 15 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Middletown.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 2310 Route 34 Suite 1D, Manasquan, NJ 08736 in memory of his daughter, Diane.
