Former Oceanport Crossing Guard Lucy Errico Acerra Dies

Acerra was a resident of Oceanport for 43 years.

Lucy Errico Acerra of Oceanport died peacefully on Thursday at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch. Born in Long Branch, she had lived in Oceanport for 43 years. Lucy was a school crossing guard for the Oceanport Police Department for 23 years before retiring in 1999. She was a parishioner of the Precious Blood Church in Monmouth Beach. Lucy was predeceased by her husband Robert J. Acerra in 1999. 

Surviving are 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Robert V. Acerra, Sr. and his wife Rose of Oakhurst, Victor Acerra and his wife Stephanie of Oceanport; a sister, Josephine (Millie) Giacolone of Oceanport; and 5 grandchildren, Robert Jr., Richard, Raymond, Paige and Victor. 

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 5, from 2-6 pm at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave (corner of Third Ave.), Long Branch. Funeral Monday, 9 am at the funeral home followed by a 10 am Mass at Precious Blood Church. Entombment will be at Woodbine Mausoleum in Oceanport.
