Secretariat's Jockey to Sign Autographs at Monmouth Park Sunday

Secretariat memoribilia and an autograph session with the Triple Crown winner's jockey will be available at Monmouth Park on Sunday.

Ron Turcotte and the immortal "Big Red" are inseperable in Thoroughbred racing history, and on Sunday the Hall of Fame jockey will be at for a special Secretariat signing to benefit racing charities.

Turcotte was in the irons for almost all of the victories that made Secretariat arguably the greatest racehorse of all time. He rose to international fame when the big chestnut colt captured the 1973 Triple Crown and set track records in all three races on the way to back-to-back Horse of the Year honors.

Turcotte, North America's leading stakes-winning jockey in 1972-73, was paralyzed in a riding accident in 1978 and ever since he has been a tireless advocate and fundraiser for the disabled. He devotes a great deal of his time to visiting racetracks to raise awareness and money for charities which include the Jockeys' Guild Permanently Disabled Jockey Fund (PDJF).

On Sunday, the track will set up a Secretariat tent and Turcotte will be there from 11:30 a.m. to the last race to meet with fans, sign autographs, and sell Secretariat memoribilia, and proceeds will benefit the charity.

Sunday's event at Monmouth Park presents a wonderful opportunity to meet a Hall of Fame jockey, own a piece of history associated with the greatest horse to ever look through a bridle, and support a worthwhile cause.
