Monmouth Park Wraps Up Racing Season With Fan Appreciation Day and Jersey Juvenile Stakes

Monmouth Park wraps up the final weekend of the live racing season with the Jersey Juvenile Stakes and Fan Appreciation Day.

The Jeresey Guys and Jersey Girls who hope to graduate into stars of the state-bred Thoroughbred racing program will be in action at Monmouth Park on Saturday as the track wraps up the 2012 live meet at the Jersey Shore this weekend. On Sunday, Monmouth Park will say thank-you to all of the fans who came out this year and showed their enthusiastic support with a special Fan Appreciation Day.

The $60,000 Jersey Juvenile will be the final stakes race of the 55 added money events presented over the course of the 2012 season, and the winner of this race for 2-year-olds bred in the Garden State traditionally is voted the divisional champion at year's end by the Thoroughbred Breeders' Association of New Jersey. The event is usually split into two divisions, with one for the fillies and the other for the colts and geldings, but this time around there will be just one race in which the girls will try to beat the boys.

As part of the track's Fan Appreciation Day, Monmouth will offer free Grandstand admission and complimentary general parking, along with half-price admission to the Clubhouse.

Beginning the following weekend on October 12, the live Thoroughbred action shifts to the Meadowlands for turf racing only on Fridays and Saturdays through November 3. Post time at the Meadowlands is 2:15 p.m.

As always, Monmouth Park will remain open seven days per week for simulcast action from across the country and around the globe. On the weekend of November 2-3, the track will simulcast the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships.
