BACKGROUND DETAILS: What started as one man’s “Coats for Sandy” collection a month ago has grown into a community wide initiative resulting in a truckload of winter items coming from Jackson Hole, WY to Little Silver, NJ later this week.

Dan Caruso, formerly from the east coast, organized a “Coats for Sandy” collection in Jackson Hole to help Sandy survivors face upcoming wintery weather. Caruso and the extended Jackson Hole community have been working for weeks to sort, box and label new and like new items – not just coats but other winter clothing, blankets, footwear and toiletries. Brands including North Face, Patagonia, Cloudveil, Mountain Khakis and Stio are in the mix with some items coming direct from the manufacturer. This past weekend, a fundraising event was held in Jackson Hole to pay for the trucking expenses.

The Little Silver Environmental Commission will be on hand at the Women’s Club of Little Silver to receive the items on December 7th and help distribute them to local groups with corresponding needs. Items that are not immediately needed will be sold on December 14th and 15th during a Sandy Benefit Winter Apparel Sale held at the Women’s Club with all proceeds going for Sandy relief efforts.

All the Best, Susan Murray, C: (732) 735-4552
