Little Silver Public Library has invited Jon Gertner to talk about his new bestselling book, The Idea Factory: Bell Labs and the Great Age of American Innovation on Thursday, June 28 at 7 p.m. Back before there was Silicon Valley, most of American innovation came from Bell Labs, from lasers to transistors to digital communication to cellular telecommunication to the discovery of the birth of the universe. AT&T Bell Labs employed thousands of people, twelve hundred of whom had PhDs. Thirteen scientists won Nobel prizes. Many residents of Little Silver and surrounding communities worked at Bell Labs and contributed to this era of innovation.
Autographed copies of The Idea Factory will be available for purchase.
