Health & Fitness

Who are we? And why YOU should join...

The Junior League of Monmouth County (JLMC) promotes voluntarism, develops the potential of women and improves the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.  Our mission makes us unique in that we provide training in leadership, organizational development, fundraising and communication skills. Several of our members serve on other non-profit Boards.  This year marks our 75th year of service to Monmouth County.

The JLMC has approximately 300 active and sustaining volunteer members living in Monmouth and Ocean Counties.  Our members are business owners, executives, accountants, lawyers, health care professionals and stay-at-home mothers.  Membership is open to any woman, age 21 or over, with an interest and commitment to voluntarism.  See who we are at one of our JLMC Socials held on July 31st at CJ McLoones in Tinton Falls starts at 7:30pm and August 15th at Red in Red Bank at 7:00pm,

We are working toward fulfilling our vision of becoming Monmouth County’s leader in facilitating girls to become confident young women.   We are starting a Monmouth County chapter of Girl’s on the Run (GOTR).   GOTR inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum, which creatively integrates running.  The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness.  We will kick off our first group of girls this fall.  Training for coaches will be held on September 5, from 4-8pm at our Rumson Headquarters.  Coaches training is open to both League and non-League members, requires no running experience, and will be valid for the spring session.

League members learn and grow as leaders when they participate in community events, support our fundraising efforts, and help to promote the overall awareness of our League.  We will invite other community leaders to participate in panel discussions focusing on issues impacting young girls.  Additionally, we will have specific skill trainings in the areas of public speaking and coaching/mentoring young girls.

Proceeds from our fundraising efforts fund our work in the community to fulfill our mission and vision. Home for the Holidays (HFTH), is our largest fundraiser of the year.  We are pleased to announce that Rumson Country Day School has agreed to host our 6th Annual Holiday Boutique on December 7th & 8th. We are bringing back many of the wonderful vendors and sponsors from last year, but are looking to add even more.  Further information on becoming an annual sponsor, event sponsor or vendor is available if you or someone you know should be interested in supporting the JLMC in this capacity.

Our League year will culminate by celebrating our Diamond Anniversary at Beacon Hill Country Club in Atlantic Highlands on May 31, 2014.  It will be an evening of inspiration, reflection, and commemoration to honor our 75 years of service to Monmouth County.

I am excited and proud to be leading this tremendous organization of committed women and dedicated community leaders in its 75th year!  If you are interested in becoming a member, volunteering for project, attending one of our events, or becoming a sponsor, please explore our website www.jlmc.org for more information.

Looking forward to seeing you at CJ McLoones on 7/31 or Red on 8/15, like us on Facebook, Junior League of Monmouth County Facebook  to stay up to date with our happenings.

Sincerely,
