Tree Lighting, Music and Santa Bring Holidays to Little Silver

The borough kicked off the holiday season Sunday afternoon with performances by choruses from Point Road and Markham Place.

Little Silver quickly transitioned from turkeys to tinsel this weekend with the annual lighting of the borough's tree Sunday afternoon.

Mayor Robert Neff warned the big crowd gathered in the Wells Fargo parking lot for the lighting and holiday concert that the holiday spirit would be impossible avoid following the festivities.

By the end of the program of holiday songs performed by choruses from Point Road and Markham Place schools, including renditions of "Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer" and "Frosty the Snowman," folks were ready to greet Santa Claus himself as he charged through town on a firetruck.

Santa was greeted by the lighting of the borough's tree (and the excitement of a brief lag between the switch flip and the lights turning on), with some help from Neff and Point Road School Principal Dr. Pam Albert.

Singers were conducted by Eric Clark, Point Road's music teacher, and Stephanie Bennett and Jennifer Brush from Markham Place. Taking turns at the piano were the Brothers Perry (Griffin and Will).

Let the holidays begin.
