Honoring Lady Veterans

Garden clubs have long had a connection with Veterans as well as with those currently serving with the military. Little Silver Remembrance chair, Ruth Spencer, has helped put together a special program for Veteran's Day this year. She will be collecting items for our soldiers in Afghanistan and Iran, as we always do at meetings, but this entire meeting will be devoted to the armed forces and to the garden club connection with them.

We will be honoring two LS residents, ladies, who are veterans of Word War II. One served with the WAVES and the other was a WAC. We will hear about their service. A club member will be sharing her memories of the Americans coming to end the occupation of Norway. Our speaker for the day will be Gotti Kelly representing the Garden Club of New Jersey who will tell us about the Blue Star Highway program, a national program which got its start right here with the Garden Club of NJ.

The monthly design competition, titled "Let's Hear It for the Red, White, and Blue," will be an exhibition table.
