STOP BY CANVAS THIS WEEKEND TO SEE AND HEAR ARTIST/EDUCATOR KATE OKESON

CANVAS Studio Art is proud to present local, contemporary book artist, Kate Okeson on Friday, May 2, 2014.  Come meet Okeson, see an exhibition of her one-of-a-kind books and hear her speak about what inspires her to create work in book form. This exhibition will feature various books and projects that Okeson has created.  Unlike traditional paintings or sculpture, the artists’ book “invites us to hold it and turn through its pages.”  Free and open to the public, the exhibition will run from 6 to 8 pm.

Since 2002, Okeson has been a fine arts educator at Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School in Rumson, NJ.  A graduate of the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University with a concentration in Artists’ Books, Photography and Installation and the College of Education at Seton Hall University, Okeson has taught at CANVAS and other schools throughout New Jersey.  She has previously exhibited her artwork at galleries in New Jersey and New York.

CANVAS Studio Art, located at 126 East River Road in Rumson, NJ, is an art studio established by artists for artists and offers classes and workshops throughout the year for kids, teens and adults.
