Little Silver 5k

This year marks the 20th Annual Little Silver 5k run, kids’ one mile fun run and kiddie dashes for children ages 2 through 10 years old. The event will take place on Sunday, October 6th, kicking off with the one mile fun run at 8:45.  Over the past few years this event has significantly grown to over 700 runners and we expect even more this year!

Our race is a USA Track & Field Grand Prix event and uses chip timing by the same company that times the NYC Marathon.   Immediately following the event we will be hosting our 4th annual Post Race Party at the Little Silver Firehouse.  We are happy to announce this year the LS PTO and the Little Silver Fire Department will join together to host a huge event and money raised will be split between both the schools and the Fire Department.

To celebrate the 20th year we are trying to raise additional money to build a "Fitness Playground" at the Markham Middle School.  It would have pull-up bars, horizontal bars, boxes to jump on, dip station, sit up station etc.  It will be open to the coaches and teachers as well as the community.  If we can raise enough money we will set up a healthy kids initiative over the school year,  getting the kids involved and learn healthy life habits.
