What Are You Voting For In Oceanport?

Residents will be voting for spots on the Oceanport Council and Board of Education.

By Christopher Sheldon

Oceanport residents will be heading to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 5 to vote in in their local election.

In addition to placing a vote for governor, senate and assembly positions, residents will be voting for the members of the Oceanport Council, Oceanport Board of Education and Shore Regional Board of Education.

There are two candidates running unopposed for the two seats on the Oceanport Council, incumbent Republican Joseph Irace and newcomer Robert Lynch. Councilman John Ibex is not running for reelection.

Frank J. Pingitore is the lone candidate for Oceanport representative on the Shore Regional BOE.

There are three spots open on the Oceanport Board of Education and incumbents, Spencer Carpenter and William McVitty, are running for two of them. Nobody is running for the third spot, but a write-in campaign could still be launched, and if enough votes are garnered, a third board member could be elected.
