State Sues Freehold Company In Gas Station Jet Fuel Flap

Freehold- A Freehold company is being sued by the state for knowingly selling jet fuel at its six gas stations during a three-day period, authorities said Tuesday. 

Pasmel Property, Inc., of Freehold, and six of its gas stations are being sued by the Division of Consumer Affiars and its Office of Weights and Measures, according to a release from the state Attorney General’s Office.

Middletown Hurricane Protection Project Gets County OK

Middletown- Port Monmouth is step closer to seeing a dune replacement project get started.

Monmouth County Freeholders have joined the township and private landowners in granting easements to the federal government for a beach erosion and hurricane protection project project.

Local Guy Goes Global with National Geographic Photography Feature

Fair Haven- Steve Scanlon grew up in Fair Haven. The area holds many memories of pristine places for him. So, he's chosen to make a career out of capturing those special sites — in photographs.

Now, one of those signature spot shots has caught the eye of National Geographic. The magazine, reknowned for its top-of-the line photojournalism, has been featuring a photo of the day on its website.

Divers Find Little Debris in Ocean After Sandy

Point Pleasant- There was not much debris in the ocean in Point Beach and Bay Head when volunteer divers explored the depths on Sunday.

Divers with the Point Pleasant First Aid and Emergency Squad did their survey from Trenton Avenue in Point Beach to Mount Street, Bay Head, a distance of 2.1 miles, looking for debris that may have been left behind by Superstorm Sandy.

CommVault Construction at Fort Monmouth Progressing

Tinton Falls- The construction of Fort Monmouth's first major building project is underway in Tinton Falls.

Crews are currently building the first 275,000-square-foot structure for CommVault, a data protection firm located at 2 Crescent Place in Oceanport that will be moving to parcel E at Fort Monmouth property in Tinton Falls.

Middletown to Get $6 Million FEMA Grant for Sandy Debris Removal

Middletown- Middletown Township learned today that a $6 million reimbursement for debris cleanup costs related to Superstorm Sandy has been authorized by FEMA.

The check, which might not arrive for several weeks, will cover about half of the township's estimated $14 million total debris removal bill. Services were performed by Ashbritt, as well as some other contractors.

Red Bank’s RiverFest Returns to Marine Park This Weekend

Red Bank- The party is on the Navesink River this weekend. RiverFest, New Jersey’s largest food and music festival, is slated to run Friday through Sunday at Marine Park. 

The festival will feature “three days of sun, sunsets and evening stars” with participating Red Bank restaurants, music, handmade items and artwork in the Artisan’s Alley, river cruises on the Navesink and a children’s palace with rides, games and activities. The event is held rain or shine.

Ocean Place Planning to Improve Area Next to Promenade

Long Branch- United Capital Corp's redevelopment of Ocean Place Resort and Spa is continuing with the group's latest improvement project for the Long Branch hotel.

The group, which acquired the hotel last year, is now looking to add an outdoor pool to the southeastern portion of the property which fronts the promenade and beach
