Shredding It Up: County Holds Paper Shredding Event at Ocean Twp. Elementary School

The county will hold a summer paper event at the Oakhurst school for residents to dispose of their documents safely from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on July 22.

A release from the county:

Monmouth County has scheduled a summer 2011 paper shredding event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, July 22 at the Ocean Township Elementary School at 555 Dow Ave. in Oakhurst.

“Monmouth County residents can get rid of their confidential files and documents safely at this event,” Freeholder Thomas A. Arnone said. “This summer paper shredding day is one more opportunity for residents to reduce their potential for identity theft and by supporting responsible paper disposal.”

County residents may bring up to 100 pounds of paper to be shredded. The shredding event will stop once the shredding truck is full. All papers will be shredded on location in the mobile truck. Documents should be free of large binder clips; staples and paper clips may be left on documents.

“Each of the county’s paper shredding events yields between four to six tons of paper,” Arnone said. “This is an ongoing shared service project of the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders and our partner municipalities. We are pleased to help residents responsibly dispose of this paper.”

Information about these paper shredding events, recycling and removing other items from the county’s waste stream may be obtained from the Monmouth County Planning Board section of the county’s
Web site at visitmonmouth.com or by calling 732-431-7460.
