Willow and Lovett Still in the Dark

Residents have had trouble getting the attention of JCP&L. Power lines near Oceanport and Silverside Ave. in Little Silver were fixed Tuesday, though 307 residents are still without electricity, 15 in Oceanport.

Power is still out on parts of Garden Road, Willow Drive and Lovett Avenue in Little Silver as of 3 p.m. Wednesday, four days after .

"There hasn't been any power trucks responding to the downed power lines," said resident Brian in an e-mail to Patch. "The only JCP&L car that came was a van two days ago. We have been in the dark since Sunday morning."

JCP&L reported 305 Little Silver residents still without power as of 3:46 p.m. Wednesday, and 15 outages left in Oceanport.

Residents of Shore Road in Oceanport were still without power as of 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to a post from Jill Gerba Chrysanthopoulos on the Oceanport Residents Facebook group

Around 3 p.m. Tuesday, residents of Horseneck Point in Oceanport were still without power and voiced their concern over a live wire.

"Little Silver feeds us and they now have power," said resident in an e-mail to Patch. "This has resulted in the power line on the Point to go live, causing a serious safety hazard."

Bonforte said he called JCP&L's corporate offices in Ohio to report an outage at his Horseneck Point residence at 8:30 p.m. Saturday night and said "it is like calling for computer help and reaching Bangladesh." He said JCP&L's comment was only six people from Horseneck Point had phoned in, pushing the neighborhood down the list.

"The answers we are getting from JCP&L are just not acceptable," said Bonforte, urging Oceanport residents to help them out by calling JCP&L at 1-888-544-4877.

By 5 p.m., JCP&L had restored power to Horseneck Point and taken care of the live wire.

JCP&L reported 17 Oceanport residents without power as of 7:27 p.m., and 302 outages left in Little Silver at that time. The number of Little Silver residents with power outages had gone down from about 900 in the morning to 636 in the early afternoon, JCP&L reported at 2:48 p.m. Tuesday.

Police Chief Daniel Shaffery explained in his update issued through Two River Alert at 12:28 p.m.:

A JCP&L crew is currently in Little Silver restoring power to Oceanport Avenue and in the area of Silverside Avenue. Power will be restored to these areas within the next 15 minutes. They do not have any estimates to the remaining areas in town at this time. As soon as that information becomes available an update will be put out.

JCP&L has not been reached for comment.
