Five Things You Need to Know Today: March 31, 2011

A compilation of the need-to-know info and events going on in, and around, Little Silver and Oceaport.

1. Say Cheese!: Markham Place School is holding a Spring Picture Fundraiser today. All students will have their picture taken. The pictures can be purchased, and a portion of the funds will go towards the school. 

 

2. Today is Thursday, and that means the Oceanport Borough Library is holding Children's Storytime.

  • Baby Storytime (ages 10 months to 23 months): 9:30 a.m. - 9:45 a.m. 
  • Toddler Storytime (age 3 1/2 years to 5 years): 10 a.m. - 10:20 a.m.
  • Preschool Storytime (age 3 1/2 years  to 5 years): 11 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
  • School Age Storytime (grades kindergarten and up): 4 p.m. - 4:45 p.m.

 

3. Today is Different Learners Day at Point Road School in Little Silver. All of the third grade students will visit five areas of difference to learn, hands on, how each specific learning disabilities impacts people's lives. The difference areas are: vision, hearing, physical, learning, and developmental.

4. Break Out the Umbrella!: The National Weather Service is calling for a 70 percent chance of rain during the day, increasing to an 80 percent chance at night, and a mix of rain and snow tomorrow morning. Expect the day to be very windy, coming from the east at 14 to 16 miles per hour, escalating to 16 to 18 miles per hour at night. New rain accumulation will reach approximately one tenth and one quarter of an inch.
