Five Things You Need to Know Today: April 5, 2011

1. The Red Bank Regional High School Education Foundation meets for its monthly meeting tonight from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m at the on 101 Ridge Road in Little Silver. According to the high school website, RBREF's "mission is to raise funds to support broad-based, teacher-requested educational grants that benefit the students of RBR through a wide range of educational enrichment, much of which is no longer included in a fiscally tight school budget. Additionally, the RBREF coordinates the Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame and honors its inductees." All are welcome to attend the meeting; volunteers are needed.

2. The Oceanport PTO meets tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the library. All parents of children within the Oceanport School District are encouraged to come and hear what the PTO is planning, to volunteer, and/or to discuss issues with the PTO Executive Board, district principals, teacher representatives, a board of education representative and the district superintendent, Andrew Orefice.

3. It's Tuesday and that means the Little Silver Public Library is hosting children's storytime!

• Baby Storytime - Ages 10-24 Months (with parent/caregiver):  10:30 - 10:50 a.m. 
• Toddler Storytime - Ages 2 to 3 (with parent/caregiver): 9:30 - 9:50 a.m. 
• Preschool Storytime - Ages 3 to 5 (kindergartners welcome):  1:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. 
•  School age Storytime - Grades K and up: 3:15 p.m. - 4:00 pm 

Today's storytime theme: Drip, Drip, Drop, Little April Showers 

4. The 7 p.m. Little Silver Planning Board has been cancelled for tonight. The next Planning Board meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 21 at 7 p.m.

5. Here is a list of the home games taking place this afternoon at the local high schools. Please note that the Shore Regional High School baseball game has been cancelled. 

Red Bank Regional:

• Boys Freshman Baseball vs. St. John's Vianney High School at 4 p.m.
• Boys Varsity Outdoor Track vs. Quad Rumson Fair Haven, St. John Vianney and Shore Regional at 4 p.m.

Shore Regional:

• Boys Freshman Baseball vs. Raritan High School, scheduled for 4 p.m., has been cancelled
