Happy Halloween Little Silver and Oceanport! Get ready for a spooooooky five things, filled with some terrifying (OK, and some terrific) news from around the haunted, murky, and ghoul-ridden Shrewsbury River.

Trick or Treat! Don't Stay Out Past Curfew, Kids

Watch out for ghosts out there, we're hearing the general area will be crawling with them by nightfall, with some even coming to your door and demanding . Have a safe and happy Halloween, and if you're under 18 and without a parent or guardian, don't stay out past curfew. In Oceanport that would be 8, and Little Silver, it's 8:30.

It's Not Too Late to Enter Patch's Photo Contest

We know quite a few of you have some downright incredible costumes. While the respect of your neighbors is a fairly sweet reward in itself, if and they're chosen as the best in all of Patchlandia, you could have a chance to meet Heidi Klum and give $1031 to your favorite charity.

Sunny High 53, Rain Possible Tonight

Right off the bat, let me reassure you that the 20 percent chance of rain in the forecast isn't expected until after 2 a.m., according to the National Weather Service, so it likely won't put a damper on your trick-or-treating.

Sunny skies with highs near 53 will prevail during the day, with clouds gathering for the night as temperatures dip into the mid-40s.

Election Season Heating Up

Is it just me, or does anyone else find that the scariest costumes are almost always people wearing suits and masks of politicians?

Jokes aside, some big things will be decided by this year's election, with a race for mayor and council seats in Little Silver and .

Little Silver council hopefuls and as well as prospective mayors and have been featured here thus far, and tomorrow we'll have a profile up for council candidate Dane Mihlon (Republican).

Congrats to Shore Regional Field Hockey!

Make it a lucky number 13 for the Lady Blue Devils, who notched their 13th straight Shore Conference title on Sunday by defeating Freehold by a score of 1-0, according to a report from the Asbury Park Press.

The team is undefeated this season, and now goes for a state title. They beat Henry Hudson 11-1 in the first round on Friday, and will face Bordentown Tuesday.
