A hazardous weather outlook has been issued from Wednesday through Monday as a hot and humid air mass moves in and pushes the heat index over 100 degrees.

The heat index measures how hot it actually feels by adding air temperature to relative humidity. So, though the thermometer may read 90, it might actually feel more like 100.

Code Orange, Day 2

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) has issued a Code Orange for us again today, warning that air pollution concentrations within the region may be unhealthy for sensitive groups, such as children, people suffering from asthma, heart disease or other lung diseases, and the elderly.

NJDEP suggests affected parties minimize their exposure to the pollution by avoiding strenuous activity or exercise outdoors.

Give the Gift of Sight

This just in from the Oceanport Lions Club: there will be a few extra attractions at , which will take place at from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.

This terrifies me, but word is there will be clowns on hand, along with face painting and raffles for gift certificates to local businesses.

The Lions are asking attendees to bring along their old eyeglasses to donate them, promising a special prize to the family that brings the most eyeglasses.
