It's going to be a wet first trek of the school year for the kids, according to the National Weather Service, which is forecasting a 90 percent chance of rain throughout the day. Highs expected around 68.

New Anti-Bullying Law in Place

Bullying will be front and center in local classrooms this year as students, teachers and parents become familiar with , which aims to raise awareness of bullying and root it out.

Last week Patch attended a presentation at educating teachers on different roles faculty and students play in bullying. We'll be posting video from that soon.

9/11 in the Classroom

With the tenth anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center ahead this weekend, a group of New Jersey teachers has banded together to create . It is not mandatory for the cirriculum to be taught in schools, but a PDF is available for any educator who wants a copy on the New Jersey Department of Education's website.

RBR Buc Backer Bash This Saturday

Maybe you've seen the signs around Little Silver, but have you signed up for 's yet? Happening at the this Saturday, Sept. 10 from 7 to 10 p.m., the event will feature a dart tournament, food and a cash bar. Summer's End Festival in Oceanport Saturday

For the 35th year in a row, Oceanport will cap the summer season in style, hosting their annual at  Saturday. Featuring live music, local food vendors, horse shoe and corn hole tournaments, face painters and balloon art for the kids, plus much more, the festival will run from from 5 to 9 p.m. with fireworks at 8:30 p.m.
