Expect Delays Along Newman Springs Road Due to Construction Project

The construction project will reduce a bridge on Route 520 to two lanes and is slated to last through November.

The drive west along Newman Springs Road is about to get a lot slower this week with the start Monday of a construction project on the bridge that connects Red Bank and Tinton Falls.

The four-lane road will be reduced to two lanes, one westbound and one eastbound, according to a message on the Tinton Falls web site. The bridge is about one mile east of the Exit 109 entrance to the Garden State Parkway.

"This will be a 24-hour lane shift and will last till the end of November 2013," the message states. "The project is being performed by the Monmouth County Engineer's Office."

Motorists should expect some traffic delays along Route 520 throughout the length of the construction project.  There will also be no access for pedestrians to cross the bridge.
