AT&T Users Feel Dropped After Sandy

Dropped calls, delayed texts, no service leaves AT&T users frustrated and out of touch.

Kevin Green is standing in his driveway, just where the crack in the asphalt is, hoping he will get lucky and find that wireless signal again.

Green, who lives on Cayuga Avenue in Oceanport, like many of his neighbors is gutting his first floor, and in between loads to the Bagster, is trying to get off a call to FEMA on his AT&T phone.

"The phone keeps cutting out," he said, "I can't stay on the phone long enough [to file a claim]."

AT&T users all over Monmouth County (including a lot of Patch staffers) have been left out of communication as their calls are dropped, texts are delayed or calls don't go through.

"Oh they're getting a call from me after this is over," said AT&T customer Tara O'Sullivan from Oceanport, who's thinking about switching to Verizon.

For flood victims the situation is particularly trying as power outages have left most without land lines too.

Oceanport residents who need to file a claim with FEMA or get on the Internet to contact insurance companies can go to Maple Place School where a Red Cross shelter is supplying computer and Web access.
