Artists vs. Athletes on Sunday Bloody Sunday

1.) N.J. lawmakers passed legislation this week that would allow private businesses to obtain off-track-wagering parlor licenses previously held by state racetrack operators or other companies that have sat idle for 10 years.

2.) The legislature also approved a bill that would allow the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority to continue operating Monmouth Park and the Meadowlands racetrack for a one-year transition period as deals to privatize horse racing at both parks are finalized.

3.) The New Jersey Technology Solutions Center, an Eatontown-based company that was recently created to preserve some of the 5,000 high-technology jobs that will be lost when Fort Monmouth closes this fall, is facing an uncertain future.

4.) It’s the final day of Sickles Market’s Annual Artist’s Day Weekend. Local artists will display their work and hold demonstrations in the market’s greenhouse until 3:30 p.m. today. .

5.) The Shore Regional High School Boys Freshman Basketball team has advanced to the finals of the Brick Memorial High School Freshman Basketball Tournament and will play Neptune in the Finals today at Brick Memorial High School.
