What you need to know this first week of April in Oceanport and Little Silver.

Sun day: Okay, even if spring break doesn't offically start for another couple of days, today's weather is going to have us walking on that proverbial sunshine. According to the National Weather Service, Wednesday is a sunny one with temperatures creeping up into the high 60s and no wind to speak of. So even if you're not going away, present company included, you'll still feel like you've gotten away with something.

Breakfast meeting: In case you forgot to write it down on your calendar (or plug it in it your the tech savvy type), today is the monthly meeting for the Little Silver Friends of Different Learners at Panera in Shrewsbury starting at 10 a.m. If nothing else, just go and get a croissant and a big cup of coffee and enjoy the good company

Lax fan alert: The Varsity Lacrosse team will take on Manasquan at home tomorrow, under that promised abundant sunshine, at 4 p.m. Don't forget your sunscreen.

Cool it now: If you have a high schooler, you know that there is intense pressure on the kids to excel in all areas. And sometimes as parents, we buy into that and start to exert pressure from our end. The Red Bank Regional PTO and Booster Club is sponsoring a on April 17 to address some of the pressures our culture puts on kids to achieve.

The New Jersey Marathon and Long Branch Half Marathon will again be running through Oceanport this year. The event will be held on SUNDAY, MAY 6, 2012. The path the runners will take has changed slightly this year, with the starting line at the entrance to Monmouth Park Racetrack. Planning for the event is ongoing, but residents are advised that there will be road closures, in areas similar to past years, from roughly 6:30 a.m. until roughly 10:30 a.m. The marathon route is available online at http://www.njmarathon.org.
