5 Things You Need to Know Today: Monday, March 26

1. Let down: After last week's record-breaking temperatures, this week's chillier weather is destined to be kind of a bummer. Freezing temeratures overnight will bring a chilly start to Monday with the thermometer only climbing to about 53 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Windy conditions could exaggerate our quick trip back to March.
2. Rumor has it: I don't know about you but I heard lots of rumors and speculation as to who is the of last week's $70 million Powerball drawing with a ticket purchased at . One name keeps coming up time and time again, but until the winner comes forward and it's confirmed by we'll just have to remain on the edge of our seats. With our hands out.
3. Paparazzi: Because of the warmer-than-usual-weather, the first stage of revealuation process has sped up and representatives will begin taking photos of the exteriors of borough homes before plantings begin to bloom. According to the borough's Web site, a letter explaining the revaluation process should be coming to residents in the next few weeks.
4. The smell of ink: Three seventh graders recently learned something that I discovered long ago: there's nothing like seeing your byline printed in newspaper ink. The students were recognized in the March Student Voices Contest in the Asbury Park Press. Mary Jo won first place for her original cartoon; Kristen Murphy won third place for her essay and Anna Cooper got honorable mention for her essay. 5. Biker or not: Are you looking for a little physical challenge later this spring? Why don't you sign up to take part in the bike race on Saturday, May 12? Granted, you might need to do some serious training to be ready for the 50-mile road and mountain bike race, but let's face it, that's nothing compared to the challenges that Lucas Viscomi and his whole family have faced battling his rare genetic disorder. Suck it up and start pedaling.
