5 Things You Need to Know Today: Monday, March 12

Good stuff to know for all the folks in Oceanport and LIttle Silver

  1. Monday, Monday: We're gonna be honest with you: We are hard pressed most weeks to say good bye to Sundays. Between reading the paper, taking the dog for walks on the beach and all our favorite TV shows (thank god the Walking Dead zombies are back), there's too much good stuff to cram into one small day. But Monday's weather is so promising, we're willing to embrace the day for the 60-plus degrees being promised by the National Weather Service.
  2. Big doings: Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno comes back to Monday morning to recognize Academy of Information Technology students for nabbing the top three spots in the state in a nationwide competition.
  3. Whole kids: The PTO holds its regular monthly meeting Monday night in the Media Center at 7:30. The group will be joined by Markham School Principal Dennis Morolda and Director of Special Services Michael Maschi for a presentation on the education of "the whole child."
  4. Heads up: Yearbook orders are due at on Thursday so get your money in this week.
  5. Spring sports: Springs sports teams start their scrimmages this week at Both the varsity and JV baseball teams play at home on Monday at 4 p.m. against Middletown North. The JV and Varsity Lacrosse teams are down in Brick after school for 5:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. games respectively.
