5 Things You Need to Know Today in Little Silver and Oceanport: April 26

Go eat some free ice cream and ignore the rainy day.

Rain day: Good thing rain boots have been all the rage this year because we're going to need them tomorrow. Rain should start up in the late morning, according to the National Weather Service, accompanied by southeast winds and temperatures around 58 degrees. You'll be able to throw those Wellies aside come Friday as skies clear and the weather will be more conducive to those new leaopard print ballet flats you found at Marshalls last week.

I scream, you scream: Who cares if it's rainy or sunny, it's always the perfect weather for ice cream. Get over to the Little Silver between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. to snag a free soft serve cone as part of the store's Customer Appreciation Day.

Paninis for a cause: Keep the takeout party going and drive over to Panera's in Shrewsbury and support Red Bank Regional's senior class. The fundraiser is between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Dance fever: My freshman at told me recently she's "obsessed" with watching dancing after she went to the high school's winter concert. And after sneaking in and watching the VPA dance students rehearse for their upcoming spring concert this week, I get it. Come see how good they are on Thursday at 7 p.m. or catch Saturday's performance at 2 p.m.

Meetings galore: Don't like dancing? Perhaps you'd rather hit one of the board of education meetings scheduled for Thursday night. will meet at 7 p.m. at for a workshop meeting followed immediately after by the regular meeting. BOE will also meet tonight at 7 p.m.
