5 Things You Need to Know Today in Little Silver and Oceanport: May 16

Pay day: Giving any kind of weather forecast is sketchy at best lately as each day recently seems to be filled with all types of weather activity. Like yesterday afternoon, it was pouring as I parked in the supermarket parking lot to load up on Triscuits and Apple Jacks to get the kids off my back and when I emerged an hour later, I was squinting from the sun breaking through the clouds. Wednesday looks to have the same weather outlook with a 30 percent chance of rain some time between noon and 4 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. But who cares? Thursday will be beautiful so you just need to deal for one more day until pay day.

At last: I don’t know about you but the closing of the Oceanic Bridge has been annoying. Even last week, I started heading in that direction to get to the Seastreak Ferry in Atlantic Highlands and had to back track through Sea Bright to get there once I remembered the bridge was closed. Good news then, as the bridge will be opening earlier than scheduled some time Friday afternoon.

Cry baby: I don’t know about you, but every time I hear or read something about my daughter’s upcoming high school graduation I start to get weepy.
