5 THINGS TO KNOW TODAY: For Mar. 7, 2011

Your Monday morning announcements from Little Silver-Oceanport Patch.

  • The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Little Silver and Oceanport, effective through Saturday, with another storm system with potentially heavy rain possible around Thursday. At 10:29 p.m. EST last night, one to two inches of rainfall had resulted in rapid rises on streams and creeks. Street flooding, and flooding across low-lying and poor drainage areas had also occurred. NWS warns commuters not to drive their vehicles into areas where water covers the roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow one’s car to cross safely, so please move to higher ground.
  • Little Silver citizens residing in Zone 1 are asked to place their brush in the street by the curb today through Mar. 13.
  • There’s a Little Silver council workshop meeting tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the Borough Hall chambers, followed by a regular meeting in the municipal courtroom. Click here to read the agenda of what will be covered.
  • Today is the first day of CogAt testing for 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade challenge students at Point Road School in Little Silver.
  • The Oceanport Governing Body will conduct a Special Workshop Meeting with the Oceanport Board of Education on Thursday, beginning at 7 p.m. to discuss various matters. The meeting will be held at Maple Place School. No formal action will be taken at this meeting.
