The Art Room in Little Silver to Close

Owners say they cannot support the overhead.

After about two and a half years of helping locals find their creative side, the owners of in Little Silver will hang up their paint brushes at the end of the month.

According to an e-mail from co-owner and resident Maureen Hourigan, "We cannot support the overhead and will go back to teaching at our homes in the fall."

The "we" refers to Hourigan's partner, Tracey Witter, who lives in Shrewsbury and spent some time this spring showing Patch around their studio - on Ayres Lane across from the train station - and telling us about

Before they close their doors for good, The Art Room will hold a this weekend of a lot of the items in the studio. The event will be held in the studio on Saturday, June 23 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

We found this in an event listing on Patch for the moving sale: "Furniture- sofa, painted china cabinet, tables, chairs, stools, easels, decorations, holiday items, appliances, art supplies, artwork, frames, artist display racks with cloth covers, and MOREMOREMORE! COME IN AN MAKE US AN OFFER!"
