Far East Taste, That's Not Too Far Away

Located on Rt. 35 North in Eatontown, Far East Taste is a small nook with excellent Thai food and other traditional Asian dishes.

Far East Taste in Eatontown, a small, cute little Mom and Pop restaurant, has always been my favorite place to eat when I am in the mood for Thai food. They have a variety of Asian dishes, but as I have a soft spot for Thai, I always choose this place over other Thai restaurants.

They do not deliver, but offer a small area for on-site dining as well as take out. I have tried all different dishes, but hands down, my favorite meal, ironically for someone who is not vegetarian, is the Crispy Bean Curd with mixed vegetables, served in a basil sauce that I opt to get with brown rice instead of white. They also serve it without the vegetables, but why not get the extra healthy attributes to the dish?  Since I love their spicy basil sauce, I also will order Thai Rice Noodles with chicken in basil sauce.

There are other notable menu options like Qing Mai Curry Chicken, with mixed  vegetables and cilantro, sauteed with Qing Mai curry and lemongrass in a spicy brown sauce. They also have Malaysian style beef, chicken, shrimp, or pork, and a traditional Chinese style food menu.  Their Thai options are more extensive, however, and this is partially why Far East Taste is one of my favorite Asian eateries.

They offer Thai red, green, yellow or brown curry, all prepared in a pasta with coconut milk, squash, green peppers and other varied ingredients.  I have also had the Pad Thai, soft stir fried Thai rice noodles, bean curd and egg with Thai special seasoning and ground peanuts, and the Pad See, stir fried broad noodles with egg and bean curd in a Mei Lan sauce.

Far East Taste offers a lunch special as well, including white or brown rice with your choice of an egg roll, soup, or soda. They offer Richard's House Specialities, including Moo Moo Thai, chicken with shredded vegetables stir fried with fresh cilantro and Thai seasoning, a little spice and served with pancakes.  The Mango Chicken is sliced with fresh cut mango and vegetables sauteed in sweet and sour spicy sauce.

Their soup and appetizer menus are extensive as well. I have tried the Tom Kai Coconut soup, served cold with vegetables and your choice of chicken, bean curd or seafood.  I would also like to try to vegetable bean curd soup, while they also have Tom Yam Soup Thai Style, and the traditional wonton and egg drop. For appetizers Far East offers Thai Mini Spring Rolls, Thai Mini Vegetable Spring Rolls, Fried Crab Rangoon, Chicken on a Stick with Satay Sauce, and a few other traditional Chinese appetizers.

Having frequented Far Easte Taste over the years, I can say it's a great place to go and have lunch or to do takeout.
