Kortney Rose Foundation Raises $15,000 through Turning Point Fundraiser

"Great Food for a Great Cause" a big success despite tumultuous weather.

The Kortney Rose Foundation (KRF) hosted its second annual “Great Food for a Great Cause” Fundraiser and raised over $15,000 for pediatric brain tumor research and awareness.

Six different Turning Point Restaurant locations (Little Silver, Holmdel, Long Branch, Manalapan, Hoboken, and Westfield) between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. in an attempt to improve the future medical care given to children with brain tumors and to possibly help discover a cure.

Weather conditions were not ideal for the weekend fundraiser, but it did not stop patrons from donating, allowing this year’s donations to exceed last year’s.

Westfield had several inches of heavy snow by 1 p.m. which may have caused many community members to stay indoors making it remarkable that this year’s total raised surpassed last year’s.

All who donated to KRF received a Turning Point gift card that could be used on their next visit to the restaurant. The more money donated resulted in a higher valued gift card.

“We had a volunteer from KRF in each of the six locations on both Friday and Saturday.  Each of my volunteers praised the excitement and commitment shown by all of the employees in helping with this fundraiser.  All of the employees in the Turning Point organization are the nicest, most genuine people.  We love working with all of them.” KRF’s Founder and President Kristen Gillette said.

Gillette added further, “The Kortney Rose Foundation is so fortunate and so grateful to The Turning Point organization for their partnership in helping us to raise awareness and research funding for pediatric brain cancer.  I am grateful to the owners, the employees, volunteers and all who donated to the fundraiser.  This research is so important because federal funding continues to decrease making private funding imperative to find better treatments and hopefully cures for kids suffering from brain tumors.”
