Maple Place Band Students Win Music Showcase
The Oceanport middle school's concert band was given top honors among similar school sizes and beat out larger schools for first overall, also awarded best flute section. Jazz band tops in brass, second overall.
The concert band competed in Music Showcase Festival Friday morning and walked away from the award ceremony at Showcase Theater in Six Flags Great Adventure with some serious hardware to proudly display in their band room Monday.
Out of several very talented schools participating in the competition, the Maple Place concert band finished first overall in scoring, given a "superior" remark by the competition's judges. Maple Place also won first among similar school sizes and given an award for best flute section.
The Maple Place jazz band finished second overall and was awarded for having the best brass section.
