Local Author Explores 'Dark Dealings' on Wall Street

Karen Victoria Smith of Middletown will host a book signing party tonight at the Draft House in Long Branch.

As author Karen Victoria Smith can tell you from personal experience, the guys on Wall Street "will rip your throat out."

But Smith, who spent a good chunk of her career on the street, isn't so much referring to the real life men in suits shouting on the floor. She's talking about the fictional world she's created of global trading, blood sucking, power hungry men in suits.

"What a place to hide vampires," she says of Wall Street. In a modern world where companies are traded globally, there's always a stock exchange open somewhere. So a vampire in hiding could chase his lust for blood and money, all around the world's time zones without ever seeing the light of day.

In her book titled, "Dark Dealings," Smith follows Micaela, a Wall Street power broker herself, who also is the reluctant heiress to a Druid legacy, as those she loves are threatened by vampires hiding in plain sight.

To kick off sales of her self-published book, the Middletown-based author is hosting a book signing and VIP event at the  in Long Branch from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday. There will be a free hot and cold buffet and beer and wine specials, as well as door prize raffles.
